On October 15th 2004, President Mary McAleese officially
opened the Lewis Glucksman Gallery marking a major
day for University College Cork and for visual art
in Ireland. The Gallery was developed at a cost of €12
million-and will act as a major cultural focus for
UCC and the region as a whole. The new Gallery will
be one of the most significant spaces for visual
art in Ireland since the Irish Museum of Modern Art
opened it's doors in 1991.
