Kingerlee -
Exhibition and Book Launch : 13th Feb 2006
"Kingerlee’s pictures
may be modest in scale, but not in intention. One
has to revert to Rothko to find a precedent for
drawing a line so emphatically in the artistic
sand." Author
Jonathan Benington

A two week exhibition (13th February – 24th
February 2006) and book on renowned artist John
Kingerlee, was launched this evening by New York
Art Critic Bill Zimmer at the Leinster Gallery,
Dublin, followed by a dinner in the Mansion House
hosted by The Ireland Funds.
The last few years have witnessed a renaissance
of Kingerlee as his work has been recognised in
exhibitions and auctions across the world. Now
one of the most collectable artists in Europe and
America, he is at last able to put behind him the
long years of hardship and struggle, as depicted
in the stunning book written by Jonathan Benington,
published to coincide with the artist’s 70th
birthday.
In 2007 and 2008, Bill Zimmer will curate a series of
exhibitions of Kingerlee’s work, in a
ten museum tour of America.
