PHILANTHROPY
IN IRELAND
THURSDAY 20th
APRIL 2006
O’REILLY HALL, UNIVERSITY
COLLEGE DUBLIN
A seminar for the not for profit sector
organised and hosted by The Ireland Funds
THE
OBJECTIVE
This is an exciting time in the world of Philanthropy
and many experts are now talking about a ‘Golden Age
of Philanthropy’ around the world. Donations are increasing but so, too,
is the competition and the overall environment
is getting tougher.
There is a great deal of change occurring and staying
the same is
no longer a viable option. This seminar will be
a distillation of
lessons learned by The Ireland Funds in the 11
markets in which
they have been operating. A practical guide to
fundraising
entitled 101 Fundraising Tips will be launched
at the seminar
which will list 101 different courses of action
that Irish
non-profits can take to improve their fundraising
capabilities.
Other topics that will be featured at the seminar
include:
Charity Legislation and Regulation; Major Gifts – Making
the Ask
and Board Development; Funding – A Perspective
from Funders;
and Branding – How to Communicate Your Story.
THE AUDIENCE
The seminar is intended for Development or Fundraising
Directors of not for profit organisations and also
Board members
and trustees who have a vital part to play in any
successful
strategy. The seminar provides an opportunity to
hear about
practices abroad and how they apply to the Irish
situation and
about the experience of fundraising here.
