Corporate Citizenship

Increasingly companies are paying more attention to their corporate citizenship responsibilities. Indeed many companies see it as a core value of their organisations and an integral way in which they conduct their business. In addition to the social impact, they seek to improve the quality of life in communities where they live and work as a key element to being viable and vital in today’s global marketplace

In 2007 a group of SEI employees were exploring ways to engage further the interests, energies, and creativity of the SEI Community and to make meaningful philanthropy possible for more employees at SEI.

Employees were surveyed and areas of interest were determined and it was at this point that the SEI Dublin office approached The Ireland Funds for help in answering some key questions.

  • How could we make our giving strategy an involved and engaged process for our employees?
  • How could we best leverage our company’s resources such as business skills, technology and employee volunteer time?

Following a detailed review of three projects presented by The Ireland Funds, Belvedere Youth Club was selected as the project that met the company’s criteria of an educational project in Dublin’s inner city.

In October twenty employees from SEI repainted the Belvedere Youth Club from top to bottom. Plans are afoot in 2008 for employee volunteers to support the recently established technology suite and to continue to support the Club.

"SEI is delighted to have had the opportunity to partner with The Ireland Funds in Dublin and to impact positively the lives of the boys and girls at the Belvedere Youth Club.
As we start 2008 we are looking forward to deepening our relationship with both organisations and creating more opportunities for our employees to engage in meaningful philanthropy here in Dublin"
- Anne Deegan, SEI Investments Trustee and Custodial Services (Ireland) Limited.
