The supporters included students from a local school who had spent time studying in Ireland. The Irish Supporters Group from Chiba, which was formed to support the Irish team in the 2002 World Cup, also attended.

The evening was a great success and the IFJ provided a meal and refreshments for all the attendees. The President of IFJ, Gerry Lanigan presented the team and officials with momemtoes of their visit to Japan while recognising their achievements in qualifying for the Irish team. The team was overwhelmed by the event and went away extremely happy and motivated. They were very successful and the 8 athletes all won medals.
