The Ireland Fund of Monaco is delighted to announce
that His Serene Highness Prince Albert, II has graciously
agreed to become Patron of The Ireland Fund of Monaco.
The Prince’s decision, taken soon after his
installation as Sovereign, is an enormous endorsement
of the Fund. It is also a clear expression of the
Ruling Family’s strong support of the Funds’ activities.
The Prince and his sister, Her Royal Highness the
Princess of Hanover, have attended many Ireland Fund
galas. In 2004 the Ruling Family did the Fund the
honor of permitting it to present the Princess Grace
Humanitarian Award, the first such award anywhere
in the world named after the late Princess. In the
same year, the Prince decorated the Funds’ founder,
A.W.B. Vincent, by making him a Commander of the
Order of Saint Charles.
The Funds’ President Michael Fitzgerald said, “We
are deeply grateful to Prince Albert and the Ruling
Family for this honor. They have been consistently
supportive of and (generous to us.) The relationship
between the Family and the Fund is a great tribute
to the link between the Principality and Ireland
established by the beloved Princess Grace. With the
Prince’s patronage, we are well set to generate
still more support for those who need our help most
in Ireland.”
