Waitakere City, which
is situated in the Auckland region, as part
of their 'sister city' initiative, invited
Ursula Rani Sarma, to speak at the Going West
Books and Writers Festival 2007. Ursula presently
lives in Dublin, but is from Galway, Waitakere
City's "sister city" in Ireland.
There was an Official Welcome by the Mayor Bob
Harvey and Waitakere City CEO Harry O'Rourke
Following the Going West Books and Writers Festival,
Ursula then embarked on a tour of educational
institutions which teach scriptwriting (Unitec
in Auckland, Victoria University in Wellington,
and Otago University in Dunedin) and also met
with New Zealand Playwrights in Auckland, Wellington,
Christchurch and Dunedin.
Ursula was interviewed by Radio New Zealand National
Radio Arts programme and also by Capital Irish
Radio in Wellington.
Ursula's tour of New Zealand (beyond the Going
West Festival) was made possible by the generous
support of The Ireland Fund of New Zealand.
