Waitakere City, which is situated in the Auckland region, as part of their 'sister city' initiative, invited Ursula Rani Sarma, to speak at the Going West Books and Writers Festival 2007. Ursula presently lives in Dublin, but is from Galway, Waitakere City's "sister city" in Ireland. There was an Official Welcome by the Mayor Bob Harvey and Waitakere City CEO Harry O'Rourke

Following the Going West Books and Writers Festival, Ursula then embarked on a tour of educational institutions which teach scriptwriting (Unitec in Auckland, Victoria University in Wellington, and Otago University in Dunedin) and also met with New Zealand Playwrights in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

Ursula was interviewed by Radio New Zealand National Radio Arts programme and also by Capital Irish Radio in Wellington.

Ursula's tour of New Zealand (beyond the Going West Festival) was made possible by the generous support of The Ireland Fund of New Zealand.
