The staff, and Board of Directors of The American
Ireland Fund are deeply saddened by the death of
Lewis L. Glucksman.
Lew was a lion of a man,
as a professional and as a philanthropist. His
love for Ireland was profound and broad-ranging.
His help extended from promoting reconciliation
in Northern Ireland, reaching out to those excluded
from the benefits of the Celtic Tiger in the Republic
of Ireland and supporting the arts, both visual
and written. He protected such gems of Irish heritage
as a Dublin Georgian home and Beckett’s Letters
while, at the same time, encouraging excellence
in modern Irish Artists for the wonderful gallery
he established in Cork.

He leaves an extraordinary legacy right across the
island of Ireland and we, The American Ireland Fund,
wish to express our deepest gratitude for a life
so generously and well-lived.
We extend our heart-felt
sympathy to Loretta Brennan Glucksman, and to Lew’s
daughters, Mary Glucksman and Jane Glucksman, to
his step-children, John Cooney, Christopher Cooney
and Kate Cooney Picco and his grandchildren, Alexa
and Ian Groueff and Liam Oscar Picco.
