Belfast-born
artist Hugh O’Neill has been a friend of
The Ireland Funds for
many years through his generous contribution of paintings
as
auction items at the annual Palm Beach dinner. He
has become one of the most collected Irish landscape
painters of his generation.
He moved to the United
States more than 10 years ago but travels back to
Ireland each summer to paint.
'The talent of the artist and the quality of
the paintings is obvious''

of America and a former director of the Norton Museum
of Art.
O’Neill is a Fine Arts graduate of the University
of Ulster, where his early work attracted critical
attention and he was described by a prominent art

Top American art writer Bruce Helander—whose
own work is at the world-famous Guggenheim, Metropolitan
and Smithsonian—has characterized O'Neill as “a
visual musician” and described his work as “inspirational”.
