The
Gourmand World Cookbook Awards took place
on April 7, 2007 in
Beijing, China.
A major book from
Ireland was honoured.
Surprisingly, or
not, it was a book about Ireland and
wine around the world. The award
for Best Book in the
World for Wine History 2006 went
to a A
Kingdom of Wine: A Celebration of Ireland’s
Winegeese, by Ted Murphy,
published by Onstream Publications.
This is
a unique book charting the connections
between Ireland and the wines of
the world. It is extremely well researched,
informative, with a clear and easy
to read design. The illustrations
are outstanding. It is the second
time Ireland wins with a wine book,
as the Wine Guide published by AA
Fermar from Dublin won Best
Wine Guide in the World in
2001.
