Baboró International Arts
Festival
Baboró, Ireland’s leading International
Arts Festival for children, is held annually in Galway.
Since its inception, the Festival has provided opportunities
for all children to participate in the arts by breaking
down the financial, social, geographical or physical
barriers that may prevent or limit their access to artistic
and cultural activities.
Baboró has developing
an outstanding reputation for the high standards and
quality of its international programmes, which include
theatre, dance, puppetry, music and visual arts. All
events have been selected based on artistic quality,
content, age appropriateness, diversity and uniqueness.
The success of the Festival,
however, extends well beyond its weeklong programme.
Baboró also
promotes quality artistic programmes for children by
providing teacher training, parent workshops, outreach
and touring programmes and conferences promoting best
practice in arts education. In 2008 Baboró will
host an International Conference as part of its International
Festival, bringing together artists and creative thinkers
from all over the world to inspire practitioners to
explore new ways to create innovative and exciting work
for children.
Through dialogue, workshops and a stunning showcase
of the very best in international work, delegates will
explore the most effective means of nurturing creativity
in children.
In the coming years, Baboró plans
to further expand its work to target Refugee Support
Centres and communities with higher minority populations.
Baboró recognizes
the need to keep creativity and the arts alive for
children. It is an important part of becoming a well-rounded
person.
